Online B.A. in History

Welcome to the Department of History's Online Undergraduate Studies page!

Our online B.A. in History enables students to obtain their degree completely over the web, not a single visit to campus required, while delivering the same high level of intellectual engagement and support from faculty and staff as in our face-to-face classes. We also offer an online minor in History.

Additionally, if you are a student earning an on-campus BA or minor in History, you are also able to enroll in online History courses to complete your coursework requirements for your degree and graduation. In this way, we provide greater flexibility for students’ schedules and a wider variety of topics in History in our class offerings.

If you are earning a degree in a field other than History, whether on-campus or online, you can take our online History courses to complete MAC General Education requirements and credits needed to graduate.

This online History BA is an online synchronous program, although individual courses can be either synchronous or asynchronous. In synchronous classes, students are required to meet online at specific class times, while in asynchronous classes students are not required to meet at specific times.

The History Department also facilitates online extracurricular events, offering students additional opportunities to learn about History and to develop communities with each other.

If you are a History major please make sure to read the information under the Advising link. Please note that in-person or virtual one-on-one advising is required every semester for all our History majors.

If you have any questions about the History major please feel free to contact the Director of Undergraduate Studies. They are available throughout the semester to assist with questions about Social Studies Licensure, transfer credits, study abroad, and anything else related to helping you make the most of your experience as a history major.
