History at UNCG offers exciting opportunities to share your passion – and your knowledge – with a range of communities, including friends, fellow students, faculty members, and alumni.
Phi Alpha Theta is an American honor society for undergraduate and graduate students and professors of history. The society has over 400,000 members, with some 9,000 new members joining each year through 970 chapters nationwide.
Each spring, eligible students at UNCG will receive an invitation to apply for lifetime membership in the Gamma Delta (UNCG) Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honors Society. Members receive four issues of The Historian and a certificate suitable for framing. In addition, new inductees are announced at the departmental graduation ceremony in May. Phi Alpha Theta is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Non-History majors are also eligible, provided they have accumulated sufficient credits in History.
