MUSEUM STUDIES

Walking Through Greensboro’s Past

In fall 2006, students in the seminar “Southern History and Southern Material Culture in a Museum Context” created historical walking tours that link Greensboro’s physical landscapes with some of the richest, most significant historical events of the area’s past. The tours were recorded as podcasts, and are also available on iTunes. Tour topics range from Civil War to the Great Depression to the 1979 “Greensboro Massacre.” In each, students tell stories that couple their own archival research with the surviving built environment today. See the walking tours.
