The Class of ’63 project began with a photograph and a challenge. Dr. Benjamin Filene brought to his seminar on Museum and Historic Site Interpretation a single photograph. It showed the 45 students enrolled in 1963 in Rosetta Baldwin’s Baldwin Chapel School in High Point. Filene asked his students to identify, locate, and interview the people in the photograph. Beginning with just a handful of names, students pored through public records and reached out to the area community to learn about the lives and times of the former students. From the rich stories they gathered, students researched, designed, and installed an exhibition at the High Point Museum. See the Student View.
